Blossom’s Chilli Hot Chocolate for Red Hot Lovers

Soak some red hot chillies with a pint of lukewarm milk (not too many! A couple is good). Melt a four ounce bar of the best dark luxurious chocolate you can find and whisk out with the same quantity of cream in a pan. Top up with the chilli infused milk, whisking all the time. Pour into your two favourite mugs (Blossom & Bill ones of course!) Stir with a Madagascan vanilla stick. With a dollop of whipped cream and shavings of chocolate – this is the best hot chocolate recipe ever. If you think you can come up with a better one let us know about it. If we agree, the contributor wins a luxury box of Blossom and Bill cups and a delicious hamper of Montezuma chocolate.

The Unicorn from Tetbury Rocking Horse has a hand carved Glastonbury crystal as its horn! Black Beauty from Suffolk Rocking Horses has 14 layers of paint to protect the body from the brass stirrups! However, our favorite is the Chestnut rocker by Richard Fairbrother as it has a bit of the Elk about it!

We love this story. The faculty of Art Media and Design at Staffordshire university set up a company, Flux, to produce a range of ceramics. The products are produced locally in an industry that has been in decline for 50years. The style evokes the traditional British designs but is definitely new and modern. The company is run by the students under the guidance of their professor. The university and students benefit greatly in many ways. The project provides real world experience and gives the students a platform to market themselves, they also make some money as does the university faculty. In fact they aim to turn over £100,000 in their first year alone! Take an A+.

The Robo chair for the Swedish manufacturer Offecct is his initial offering from that considers the whole product. It arrives flat-packed and can be carried home in a box. Following his acceptance of this year's TED award, the artist JR set off for Tunisia to mark the arab revolution with his trademark style of black and white portrature. He has gained growing status as an artist since first appearing after the Paris riots in 2005. He found a camera on the street and took a set of close up portraits of the protesters. His next piece of work was on walls bordering Palestinians and Israelis. His technique is immediate and provocative, easily accessible and asks questions. He puts people back into the heart of a problem.

Barber & Osgerby have a design ethos they say comes from 5% inspiration and the rest is hard work. The hard work is taking a concept and making the solution look easy. Their latest project for Vitra is the Tip Ton chair. This is their solution for a robust and elegant school chair. It rocks forward to improve desk posture, as we all do naturally on chairs anyway. And guess who has been chosen to develop the torch for the 2012 Olympics?

We first met the girls at Darling Clementine 3 years ago at a London tradeshow. Even then their designs shone out amongst the galaxy of greetings cards that stifle these shows. The girls now make notebooks, trays and cushions and more collaborations. Their designs are delightful, who would not adore one of the Marionette cushions. Their latest range of Charlatans can be found at 1973 and their next range of children's products for Ferm Living looks lovely. Well done girls!

Olof & Ulf are the duo who make up Fulo Design Studio in Gothenberg. They showed off their Bits Bench at the Stockholm Furniture Fair and is also be at the Salone Satellite, Milan this week. The pair work with geometric pattern and "cheap" materials. This bench is made from plywood triangles with a padded interior and fabric between the plywood layers, making the bench more comfortable than it looks.

The independent shop theme is gathering pace throughout the UK and nowhere more vibrant than the East End of London. Labour and Wait have opened their new haberdashery on the newly chique 85 Redchurch Street. The old Dolphin pub looks fantastic with its green tiles tidied up. The shop is stranded in post war enamel, linen and cast iron but pulls it off nicely. Think beeswax and tarred twine. They have recently opened 9 concessions around Japan and another in the hip Dover Market in the West End. Take a peek, you can even buy "The Memoirs of a Lavatory Attendant". Isn't "haberdashery" a lovely word?...
