Afternoon tea

This looks like an afternoon break with all the right ingredients, and we were invited in a functional role at least... Thanks Sandra

Sunday Morning Song: Janelle Monae

"WAAAAAGH!" Love her. What a groovy imp! See the official videos here; Tightrope , Wondamix

You have to dance along with her, unless you are an alligator or a rattle-snaker!

The design duo Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien are the on-trend, in-tune, on-song Doshi Levien design studio. At Maison et Objets last month they unveiled Kali for Authentics. A simple bathroom cabinet and accessories. Why doesn't our bathroom look this clean and organised?

Cavour Desk

Bill has completely fallen in love with this 1949 classic by Carlo Mollino. The glass topped Cavour desk. Stunningly correct. I think if Bill had a desk job he would have to find the pocket money to get hold of one. Note that you won't get much change from £7000 and a vintage original can be much more...

Freitag Bag

The FREITAG brothers have been making bags from discarded truck tarpaulins since 1993. Each bag is handcut and stitched, so each bag is unique as well as durable and waterproof. The new fake snake range adds a bit more bling to the range. You can even create your own bag online using their F-Cut program. Give it a go...

Sunday Morning Song

Spruced up 80s electronica ala the XX. We love the melancholic nostalgic vibe that sounds very now...

If the Black Swan is not for you, and you've done the King's Speech, try out these lovelies for the week ahead. Do not miss Submarine by the fantastic Richard Ayoade..

Or Joanna Hogg's aching portrayal of an unhappy family, Archipeligo, a group of scattered islands in a large body of water...

Or for something to remind you how lucky you are and how brave some are; Living in Emergency...

A nice cup of tea...

LZF Lamps use curved and wrapped veneers to create sensuous lighting. They are all hand made in a refurbished winery outside Valencia. LZF or Lucifer or Luz y fer comes from light and the verb to make, let's hope they keep making light!

Konstantin Grcic

"..demonstrates high quality, innovation and expands the boundaries of design..." these are the principles that guide Design Miami for the award of Designer of the Year. The latest recipient was the Munich based, German designer Konstantin Grcic. His designs are sparse minimalist with stark form and defined function, but with an association with human emotion. This approach creates objects that demand to be used and admired, attract attention and evoke an attachment. So overall quite cool... if that is a word that means anything anymore...

Sunday Morning Song

A bouncingly catchy number to spring you out of bed as the daffodils trumpet the surrender of the long winter.
Noah & the Whale

La Paix Anderlecht

La Paix is the only brasserie to have been awarded a Michelin Star in Belgium. It is well worth a visit. The rustic Belgium menu is transfored by chef David Martin by perfect ingredients, attention to detail and an exquisite imagination. The brasserie is bustling and kitsch, just how it should be. David has just opened a new brasserie in Bozar, the Centre for Fine Arts in Belgium.

Purple in Paris

Cappellini returns to Paris with their flagship Purple store, following on from their Red store in New York and Blue Store in Los Angeles. Their pieces adorn museums all over the world but have all been designed to be used. There is no house specific style to allow room for individual interpretation. Fun, pop, iconic, relevant and 60 yrs old...
